Winter 2013

It's been quite a while since I wrote I guess. That doesn’t mean it has been uneventful around here. Au contraire mes amis, it has been a most interesting time. The disease that has been gnawing away at me for the last 13 years has been cured. That’s a good thing. But I hear those in the know thinking what we have all been thinking for the past 13 years, that there is no cure for ulcerative colitis. Well, as it turns out there is; and involves the judicious use of scissors. Life is good and it is magnificent compared to the alternative. Funny how things always seem to work out in the end. I now have a push bike. I like it a lot. In fact I think I can see myself becoming one of ‘those guys’. You know the ones; the dopey barstards that get up at 6am Saturdays to squeeze into clothes men shouldn’t be allowed to wear and punish themselves like new recruits at the Opus Dei. And whilst I’m a very long way from the Tour de France I did crank out 90kms yesterday and have never felt better than I do this morning, which is weird because you’d think my legs should feel like they have gravel in them. Parky had to rescue me though because I had a blowout, but not in my tyres. And those of you who know how ulcerative colitis is cured just said “Eeew!” That’s okay, that’s exactly what I said.
