Well, that’s it folks! As the old saying goes. We have said
our goodbyes, packed our bags and are heading to bed, ready to catch the bus to
the airport first thing tomorrow. It’s been a pretty wild ride. Thanks for
joining us J
Today is my birthday and we are going out to lunch at around 1pm. We should be home before midnight, possibly. Lunch takes a while in Spain, especially on the weekends. Meanwhile, here's a look at Villanueva de Alcardete.
Also today I thought I should give you a bit of a look at Quintanar de la Orden as well. We have seen it a lot, but not much of the town has been posted here. I'll make a slideshow.
Today we went out to have a squiz at the famous windmills of Campo de Criptana, otherwise known as the Land of the Giants for when Don Quixote went stark, raving bonkers he thought they were giants and tried to attack them. Needless to say he came off second best. In fact, the windmills are extremely interesting in their own right. They are obviously more than 500 years old (because they are in a book written in 1604) and they still function on the first Sunday of each month for exhibitions. They are a masterpiece of engineering for their day. not only dis they use wind power to grind the wheat 500 years ago, but the entire top cone-piece of the windmill rotates 360* to suit the direction of the wind. I will post a photo of the internal workings in a scale model.
